The government has sanctioned Rs 27 crore for the renovation of camp townships in Jammu, inhabited by displaced Kashmiri Pandits, which are in a dilapidated condition. The work will start in the next few months.
Relief Commissioner RK Pandita announced this during a grievance redress meeting organised at Jagti township, which houses 4,000 Pandits. The meeting was organised by MLC Surinder Ambardar, the lone Kashmiri Hindu member in the Legislature.
Pandita said the process of recruitment for the additional 3,000 posts announced by the government for the displaced community will start soon as most of the formalities for the same were underway and would be complete soon.
Speaking on the occasion, MLC Surinder Ambardar said it had been decided that all the bifurcation cases (new and old) would be resolved within a fortnight and action would be taken against officials who delayed the process.
“Pending salaries of all the displaced daily wagers working in Kashmir will be paid within a month. Shops will also be allotted to genuine persons who got uprooted from old camps for which verification will be started,” he said.
Later, Pandita and Ambardar visited the newly functional 40-bed hospital building in Jagti and the higher secondary school which had been adopted by the MLC and interacted with the authorities of both the institutes.
They assured all kind of help in making sure that the best of medical and educational facilities were provided to the displaced community.
